Cellnex, Everynet ink deal to rollout IoT networks in Italy, UK and Ireland

Telecommunications infrastructure operator Cellnex Telecom and IoT connectivity company Everynet have put together a deal to jointly promote the roll out of new internet of things networks in Italy, the U.K. and Ireland.

These IoT networks, based on LoRaWAN technology, will be deployed on Cellnex’s telecommunications infrastructure networks in these three countries and will rely on Everynet’s carrier-grade IoT network solutions.

As part of the deal, multiple IoT solutions on the Cellnex infrastructure network will be deployed. These include Industry 4.0 for tracking or monitoring assets throughout their supply chain, smart cities and smart parking solutions to help digitize mobility and optimize the use of public highways and urban space.

The two firms said that the use of IoT for smart utilities, to gather data and monitor resource consumption, represents one of the projects with the highest potential. Smart IoT can help utilities save resources, reduce costs, and improve the impact on the environment, the two firms said.

“This is an important step forward to embrace the very rapid deployment that new technologies are experiencing in response to the unprecedented changes that society and global economies are facing,” said Cellnex Global Commercial Director Oscar Pallarols.

“We are looking forward to deploying these new IoT networks in Europe that enable  integrators, developers, and telecommunications companies rapidly launch a broad portfolio of IoT solutions in the market. These networks are interoperable with existing national networks in France, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland enabling EU-wide roaming” said Lawrence Latham, CEO of Everynet.

To collect the data, Cellnex provides an integrated IoT platform for managing and providing real-time diagnostics and the immediate ability to act either predictively or preventively, manually or automatically, with the provider responsible for managing this service resource.

Meanwhile, Everynet will provide and manage the LoRaWAN network infrastructure that will be deployed for data collection.

Cellnex Telecom is an European operator of wireless telecommunications infrastructures with a portfolio of 61,000 sites including forecast rollouts up to 2027. It operates in Spain, Italy, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, the UK, Ireland and Portugal.

Cellnex said that over two million objects are currently connected to Cellnex IoT networks.

Everynet is a global LoRaWAN network operator and provides carrier grade networks in Asia, EMEA, and the Americas. Currently, the company builds and deploys national and extended LoRaWAN networks to offer its IoT services and has already covered seven countries worldwide, including Brazil, Indonesia and Spain.
