Sigfox launches IoT network in Indonesia

 

French IoT specialist Sigfox has officially launched its IoT network in Indonesia, the company said in a release.

In the first stage, Sigfox’s network is available in greater Jakarta area and Bandung. Sigfox said that the launch of Sigfox network is aimed at supporting the increasing adoption of IoT in Indonesia.

“IoT is a technology that can revolutionize and could answer a lot of human problems in every sector for a better quality of life,” said Sigfox Indonesia CEO, Johnny Swandi Sjam. “Today’s is our first step into making that a realization in focusing to provide the best technological experience for both our customers and partners.”

“Indonesia is one of our most important markets and we are excited to see the launch of Sigfox Indonesia at this time. The rapid expansion of IoT demonstrates that the demand for IoT will need a wide variety of IoT solutions to deliver value its users,” said Roswell Wolff, president of Sigfox Asia Pacific.

“Requirements are growing across all vertical sectors in Industry 4.0, smart cities, logistics and supply chain, automotive, utilities, and backed by strong government support. Sigfox IoT service offerings are ideally suited to the unique economic and social values required in these applications and many more. We look forward to growing our business and establishing broad partnerships bringing value across Indonesia,” Wolff added.

Sigfox Indonesia initially will offer two sensing devices: the personal tracker, mostly beneficial for tracking vehicles for personal vehicles; and its wallet tracker, which can be used as employee ID that can be monitored through apps.

For that, Sigfox Indonesia initiated collaborations to develop sensing device and applications developed by local IT professionals not only for industries and business in general but also utilizing IoT for property developers, farming and fisheries.

After the official network operation launch, Sigfox Indonesia said it will continue conducting collaborations with various sectors, communities, institutions and other corporations to enable an viable IoT ecosystem in the Asian country.

Sigfox Indonesia operates under PT Kirana Solusi Utama and is the only Sigfox IoT network operator in Indonesia.

Sigfox’s IoT network is currently available in 70 countries, with 1 billion people covered. Founded in 2010, the company is headquartered in France and has offices in Madrid, Munich, Boston, Dallas, San Jose, Dubai, Singapore, Sao Paulo and Tokyo.
