Huawei focuses on R&D activities to launch AI processors

The vendor said it expects to compete with Google and Apple in the AI processors field

Chinese vendor Huawei Technologies is currently actively carrying out research and development activities to be in a position to launch artificial intelligence (AI) processors, Chinese press reported.

The vendor said it expects to announce concrete R&D achievements by the end of this year.

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group, said that the company aims to launch an application processor featuring combined functions of CPU, GPU and AI, during the second half of the year, according to the report.

The executive also said that Huawei aims to compete with U.S. companies Google and Apple in the AI application processors market.

In related news, , Yu also said that Huawei’s smartphones will feature security chips, so that they can be directly used as car keys for a number of car brands including BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi and Porsche, with which the Chinese vendor has signed cooperation pacts.

Esri inks smart city partnership with NXN

In related news, analytics firm Esri has signed a partnership with NXN (formerly neXgen), a smart city consulting and digital service provider in the Middle East and Africa.

Through this collaboration agreement, NXN will augment its smart city as a service digital platform with Esri technology to deliver geospatially enabled smart and digital services in real estate and government.

“Our smart city as a service digital platform’s data orchestration, data analytics, visualization, and reporting capabilities will provide our customers with an enhanced ability to make decisions resulting in improved customer experience, operational efficiency, energy efficiency, and more,” NXN’s CEO Ghazi Atallah, said.

NXN is currently working in the development of smart cities projects for clients including Smart Dubai, Aldar, and Dubai Silicon Oasis. The collaboration between Esri and NXN will provide additional Esri 2D and 3D solutions and consulting services to NXN clients.
