Autotech Council Startup Review on Mobility

Autotech Council members, which include carmakers and their Tier 1 vendors, meet monthly in Silicon Valley to review startups and innovation. In today’s Startup Review, we will introduce 4 young companies with innovation in the connectivity segment of next generation transportation.

Liz Kerton, Executive Director, Autotech Council, moderates the session at the Enterprise IoT Summit, in Austin Texas. Kerton, one of the Silicon Valley’s most influential women according to the San Jose Business Journal, is a marketing expert focused on technology and telecom. She started Telecom Council of Silicon Valley in 2001 – a community of 1000s of telecom industry insiders from 100s of companies including 60 global telcos who are focused on telecom innovation. 10 years later, in 2011, she started the Autotech Council which connects auto makers and their Tier 1 vendors with innovation and entrepreneurs.

A marketing veteran with more than 15 years of experience in sales and marketing, David Rodriguez leads GreenRoad’s worldwide marketing efforts and is responsible for articulating the company’s vision, product solutions, technology innovations, and purpose to customers, partners, and media around the globe.

Rui Costa is the Managing Director of Veniam, and Founder of IEEE Academic. With an MSc in Communication Networks Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico with Vehicular Network Applications and Services for Safety and Comfort as a research field, Rui joined Veniam in 2013 as a Systems Engineer and later specialized in developing and driving the cloud component of the Veniam platform. Rui later headed the company product effort, helping Veniam scale its technology and vision towards the mission of delivering the Internet of Moving Things. In parallel, Rui is also focussed in contributing actively to improve access to educational multimedia contents, as Founder and Coordinator of IEEE Academic, an international project for the creation and dissemination of educational multimedia content, for free, all over the world. Rui is also a co-founder of Kairos Society Portugal and the Startup Scholarship, an active IEEE volunteer and often giving talks about cloud scalability, vehicular networks, future of mobility, and online education impact.

Bob Newkirk, Chief Advisor – IoT Market Development for Tourmaline Labs, is a corporate and industry digital transformation evangelist focused on building a critical mass of support for the Internet-of-Things (IoT) evolution and Smart Mobility Services that are transforming and disrupting traditional markets and status quo business models by technologically enabling “service economy” and “share economy” paradigms.
