The Emerging Enernet: Convergence of the Smart Grid With the IOT

This week Chris Hare with guest Steven Collier, aka SmartGridMan, Director Smart Grid Strategies at Milsoft Utility Solutions.

Most of the focus so far in this series has been the consumer view of IOT, this week we review how the energy/utility industry has to change fast based on the way energy consumption has changed, the devices connected (including cars and solar cells – covering both added use and also ways to contribute to the grid), and how the connected consumer expects live data rather than once a month ‘consumption tax’ bills through the mail.

Steve has been advising utility companies on how their business model, consumer expectation, and data traffic all must change right now – and how examples from other parts of the world may show the path to change in North America and Europe.
